The key to cultivating kale lies in soil preparation. If you taste soil from the fields we use to grow our raw ingredient kale, the soil has a faintly sweet aroma.
We do not use chemical fertilizers in our soil. What’s more, we do not use any agrichemicals whatsoever in cultivation. We take the time and effort required to grown our kale in healthy soil completely free from agrichemicals, and this is what gives it its rich flavor.
All of our important processes are carried out carefully by hand, including weeding and insect removal, without using any agrichemicals or chemical fertilizers.

At Q’SAI, we work hard to promote environmentally-friendly agriculture for the benefit of both people and the natural environment. Environmentally-friendly agriculture means using the waste materials produced as a result of raising livestock or growing crops as fertilizer and utilizing agricultural residue with the aim of making effective use of resources and promoting sustainable agriculture.
Q'sai Farm Shimane supplies the kale residue produced as a result of manufacturing Kale Aojiru (frozen type) to neighbouring cattle farms for use as cattle feed. We also procure manure made from cow dung and use this to cultivate our kale.

Basic system for environmentally-friendly agriculture

We check for residual agrichemicals at our QSAI Analysis and Research Center.

We carry out strict checks for the possibility of residual agrichemicals from surrounding fields. Testing is carried out at QSAI Analysis and Research Center, which is a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare-registered institution (*1). We implement a multi-stage testing system, including tests on kale taken from our fields and checks for residual agrichemicals at the processing stage. This involves the use of standards that are stricter than the national standards (*2), and in the event that any agrichemicals are detected above the standard values the entire lot of aojiru is disposed of.

Q’SAI products are made using carefully selected raw materials.

We use only strictly selected raw materials for Q’SAI products such as Aojiru.
We carry out safety testing and efficacy and effectiveness research from the developmental stage, and we have established a strict quality control system that includes agrichemical detection tests for all aojiru raw material lots and ensures traceability.

Kale grown in Japan

We use 100% grown-in-Japan kale with zero agrichemicals and chemical fertilizers.
Our philosophy has not changed since 1982 when we first started manufacturing and selling Aojiru. Q’SAI kale is cultivated by Q’SAI Group farms and contracted farmers, all of which are located in Japan.


For our Hachimitsu Aojiru we use honey from the Yamada Apiary, which pursues harmony and symbiosis with nature in its production.
Their production system allows each individual beekeeper to be identified and high quality honey is made thanks to quality control with the strictest standards.


We carry out hygiene testing and heavy metals testing for each ingredient used to make our The Hiza Support Collagen product. Products are made at factories in Japan with strict hygiene control, and testing is carried out on the final product, including hygiene tests, taste tests and color tests.

We have continued to uphold quality with strict standards that accept no compromise.

The factory to which we deliver kale for use in aojiru carries out repeated daily inspections led by our Quality Control team.
We pursue the highest standards of safety by implementing residual agrichemicals tests and bacteriological tests on all lots.
Our products are only completed once they have passed all check items, including taste, color, aroma and solubility.

In addition, our Quality Control team carries out daily quality checks on our aojiru, including checks for sugar content. There is a sensory test in which the inspector drinks the aojiru and checks the quality in person. Every lot of aojiru produced at our factory is checked for sugar content or other unnecessary content. The sensory tests are carried out by tasting professionals who have passed tasting inspection tests at the company. They employ the highest standards every day to protect the quality of our aojiru.

Promise4:We will establish a strict quality control system for all processes.

Our “Safety Cycle” ensures the safety of Q’SAI products.

The four main processes for Q’SAI aojiru are “cultivation” in the fields, “production” in the factory, “agrichemical testing” and delivery of the product through “sales”. These four processes are linked in a single cycle for which safety is ensured. By carrying out detailed checks at each stage we are able to supply our customers only with products that have been problem-free in all processes. We have named this cycle of safety control the “Safety Cycle”.
What’s more, we link each set of test results and we have built a system that allows us to identify which product was produced at which factory, when it was produced, and which field it was grown in. Traceability (pursuing information back to the raw material stage) is only possible because Q’SAI manages our own fields in the production of aojiru.

The four elements to protecting our products Q’SAI’s Safety Cycle

  1. Agrichemical Management System:We ask QSAI Analysis and Research Center to carry out inspections at the cultivation and production stages
  2. Cultivation Management System:We work in partnership with our contracted farmers and Q’SAI Group farms to carry out checks on soil safety and kale growth, etc.
  3. Sales Management System:We have established traceability so that we are able to trace information on the products we deliver to our customers all the way back to the field they were grown in.
  4. Production Management System:We have established strict testing standards at each stage of production with a focus on hygiene and quality control.
